SPECIALIZED
FOSTER CARE
the first choice when:
* youth are awaiting
an adoptive placement
* youth are in temporary care, and with the family, working toward
reunification
* youth do not exhibit marked emotional problems
Emphasis
This program service
provides an environment for the child to transition to a more permanent
situation, either through reunification with the family, or through adoption.
For reunification, Specialized Foster Care allows the Family and the Child to
work through the issues that required removal from the family setting,
typically, dependency and neglect issues. Licensed Social Workers and trained
foster parents work as part of a team to identify and deal with issues that
keep families apart. For adoption, trained assessors help to identify, train
and provide support to prospective adoptive parents to assure a true permanent
placement for the child.
